Here I am, looking out onto the snowy street in front of Beads at Dusti Creek on SE Division in Portland, where I’m doing a trunk show with a few other artists.
A last minute chance for holiday shopping and a final schmooze with artist friends for the year.
I’ve done these trunk shows at Dusti’s off and on for years, appreciating the small, intimate venue style. More of the kind of place to have conversations with my customers and patrons than the large, hoopla of art festivals I enjoy during the summer.
Some would say it’s slow right now. Well, Portlanders and snow…whatcha gonna do. It’s the first day of our show and I think folks will be getting cabin fever later or tomorrow and drop by. I don’t sweat it. I’ve been doing shows and events of all kinds for over 40 years. I know a thing or two.
Now is a time for me, during a slow hour, to contemplate and plan the coming new year…some of the new projects I want to jump on, a professional fashion show to plan for, new wholesale orders…and a potential redesign of my booth–so anxious to get this going!
Those booth grids are getting heavy after all these years. Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time…make the “schlep” easier and perhaps create a fresh look.
We all need to reinvent ourselves once in awhile 🙂
My next show will be–Say it with heART, Feb 6-7…a Valentine pop up boutique I started some years ago and share with 10-25 more artists–at my home. You’ve got to come!
